Exciting activities, amazing prizes, and great books: It’s time to jump into Summer Reading at the Fond du Lac Public Library.
Starting Monday, June 1, the Fond du Lac Public Library invites users of all ages to “Unearth a Story,” the theme of Summer Reading 2026. The program will include both reading challenges and activities for all ages, with a special focus on discovery and stories.
Summer event highlights for adults include book bedazzling (June 10), free headshots photos taken by The Sparkle Studio (June 18), an opportunity to learn about Great Lakes shipwrecks with the Wisconsin Maritime Museum (July 15), a session to get personal items repaired with FDL Repair Cafe (Aug. 1), a chance to learn about the Kettle Moraine (Aug. 17), and a fun Mystery Party (Aug. 29).
Kids, meanwhile, have plenty of activities to keep them from getting bored. Youth highlights including a glow-in-the-dark escape room and life-sized board game (June 4 & 5), Magician Matthew Teague (June 10), a glow-in-the-dark bubble show (June 17), a visit from live raptors (June 24), a chance to learn about shipwrecks with the Wisconsin Maritime Museum (July 6), an exploration of caves and bats with Ledgeview Nature Center (July 8), and a return of the popular Touch a Truck (July 22).
Teens also can drop into the glow-in-the-dark escape room, as well as joining an Art Camp (July 15) or they can learn to run their own roleplaying game (Aug. 13).
Many other events are scheduled for each age group as well. For a full list of events for all ages at the library, visit calendar.fdlpl.org
Meanwhile, through Aug. 16, kids, teens, and adults may read their favorite books to earn prizes. Returning in 2026 is an online logging option: users can hop on the Fond du Lac Public Library’s online portal, Beanstack, to record their minutes of reading. A link to Beanstack is available at fdlpl.org/summer2026.
Participation is easy and earns readers instant rewards along the way as well as a chance at a grand prize at the end of the summer. All reading counts, and reading aloud counts for both the reader and the listener. Participants can earn instant prizes for every 5 hours of reading (up to 20 hours) and be entered for a grand prize at 20 hours.
