Community invited to gather in remembrance and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001
Marian University will host a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 8 a.m. Friday, September 11, inviting members of the campus and greater Fond du Lac communities to gather in remembrance of the lives lost and the heroes who responded on September 11, 2001.
The ceremony will include a color guard and flag presentation by the Fond du Lac Marine Corps League, providing a solemn tribute to those who lost their lives and those who served and sacrificed in the aftermath of the attacks.
Marian University President Aaron Sadoff will offer remarks during the ceremony, reflecting on the significance of remembering September 11 and the importance of coming together as a community.
A Marian University staff member will also perform Taps, providing a traditional musical tribute as the community pauses to remember. At the conclusion of the event, guests are invited to go inside the Sabre Cafe to watch a documentary on 9/11. Sabre Cafe will be open for guests to purchase refreshments.
“Remembrance gives us an opportunity to honor those whose lives were forever changed and to reflect on the courage, compassion, and service demonstrated in the days that followed September 11,” Sadoff, said. “Gathering together reminds us of the strength found in community and the importance of carrying the lessons of that day forward.”
The public is welcome to attend the ceremony. Seating will not be provided, so attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs if desired.
