Marian University Accepting Applications for Fall 2026 Working Families Grant Program

Program removes financial and life barriers for single parents pursuing a bachelor’s degree, with limited spots available for Fall 2026

Marian University (Wisconsin) is now accepting applications for the Fall 2026 cohort of its Working Families Grant Program (WFG), an initiative designed to help single parents achieve a bachelor’s degree while balancing the responsibilities of family life.

The Working Families Grant Program provides a comprehensive support system that removes common barriers to higher education for low-income, single parents. Participants receive financial assistance that can include support for tuition, childcare, and essential living expenses, along with access to academic advising, mentoring, and career development resources.

Founded in 2002, the program has helped hundreds of students pursue and complete their degrees, with graduation rates that exceed national averages. The program’s “whole student” approach emphasizes academic success, personal development, and community engagement, requiring participants to remain enrolled full-time, maintain academic progress, and give back through service.

“Marian University is committed to expanding access to education and empowering students to transform their lives and the lives of their families,” Kerry Strupp, WFG Program Director, said. “The Working Families Grant Program exemplifies that mission by providing both financial support and a strong network of resources that help students succeed.”

Eligible applicants are single parents with dependent children who are pursuing their first bachelor’s degree and demonstrate financial need. The program is designed for individuals motivated to create long-term economic stability and opportunity for their families.

Applications for the Fall 2026 cohort are now open. Interested students are encouraged to apply early, as space in the program is limited.
