Kinsey “Bob” Gomez has been announced as the seventh head coach of the Marian University women’s soccer program.
“Congratulations to Coach Bob on her promotion,” said Director of Athletics Tony Draves. “Her talent and dedication to the student-athletes at Marian has been on display since we first hired her. I’m so happy for her and the women’s soccer program that we now get to expand her role even more. I’m excited to see what’s next for the program under her direction.”
Gomez joined the Sabre women’s soccer program as an assistant coach in 2023 and has helped lead Marian to a 27-21-12 (.550) record during that time. Marian has qualified for the NACC Tournament in each season that she has been on staff. In her first season at Marian, the Sabres went 12-4-4 with the 12 victories tying for the second most in a single season in program history. It also earned Marian its first home game in the NACC Tournament since the 2013 season. Marian went on to defeat Aurora 3-1 in that postseason game for the first postseason victory since that same 2013 season.
“The opportunity and growth that Marian has offered to me has been the start of something great for a young coach wanting to follow their passion in a sport they love,” said Gomez. “Thank you to Director of Athletics Tony Draves, Vice President of Student Life Josh Clarey, and President Aaron Sadoff for giving me the chance to continue to grow these young women on and off the field. Being a part of Marian women’s soccer for three seasons has been encouraging as a coach to see the growth and dedication that these student-athletes have for the program. I am beyond excited to step into this role and keep growing the program.”
Prior to joining Marian, Gomez closed out her collegiate playing career at Trinity International University. She scored three goals with a pair of assists in her final season to earn NCCAA Second Team All-Region honors. Gomez also earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition for her work in the classroom. She finished her Trojan career playing in 27 matches over two seasons with 12 total points. Prior to TIU, she spent two seasons at Western Texas College starting in all 23 games she appeared in with the Westerners. Gomez served as a captain for both programs.
During her transition from Western Texas to Trinity International, Gomez suffered season-ending injuries in back-to-back seasons. In those two seasons, she spent time as a student-assistant coach with the Trojans and a youth soccer coach. She also volunteered her time as an assistant coach at the high school level and assisted in coaching clinics.
Gomez earned an associate degree in general education from Western Texas. She then earned a bachelor’s degree in sports wellness and master of arts degree in organizational leadership from Trinity International University. Gomez is also an AFFA certified group fitness instructor.
