Cink, Schaefer named WGCA All-American Scholars

Allison Cink and Taylor Schaefer of Marian University women’s golf have been named All-American Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

A total of 1,551 women’s golf student-athletes were recognized by the WGCA.  The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of our players.  To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have played in at least half of the regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the season.

Cink (Cleveland, Minn.) competed in 14 rounds finishing with a stroke average of 87.3 in her first season as a Sabre.  She had an 85 or better in five rounds with a season-best of 82 coming in the second round of the Ives Grove Firebird Fall Classic.  Cink was also just one stroke off of that pace at the opening round of the NACC Championship.

Schaefer (Beaver Dam, Wis.) closed out her time at Marian with the best season of her career.  She competed in 10 rounds this past season finishing the season with a stroke average of 108.4.  The best round of her season came at the Edgewood University Fall Invite where she carded a 98 in the opening round.  Schaefer also had rounds of 104 at the Monmouth Fighting Scots Invite and the Benedictine Spring Invite.

This is the first time since 2023 Marian women’s golf has had multiple student-athletes named WGCA All-American Scholars.  The full release and All-American Scholars list from the WGCA can be found by clicking HERE.
