Community bands together to raise funds to support local pantries
Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Leadership Alumni hosted a hybrid (in-person and take-out) version of Empty Bowls on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Thanks to attendees, donors, and sponsors, the 2021 event raised more than $7,500. The event was sponsored through the generous support of Charter Communications, Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis, Fond du Lac Noon Rotary, Hometown Bank, Society Insurance, and SSM Health (Agnesian Health Care),
Empty Bowls, established in 1999, is a community-driven effort to fight hunger. The three-fold purpose of this event is to promote an awareness of hunger in our community and world; create an awareness of art education and its impact on civil and social responsibility; and provide an opportunity for the community to come together to raise money for local food pantries and shelters. Proceeds from this event benefit area food pantries.
“Empty Bowls 2021 was almost back to its original format,” Marcia Snyder, Leadership alumni ‘02, 2021 Empty Bowls Planning Committee, said. “Empty bowls continues to resonated with our community as a fundraiser to provide essential tools to our food pantries so they can assist those in need.”
Through the funds raised during the 2021 event, five area food pantries will receive a check for $1,503.60. The following food pantries were assisted: Broken Bread, Fondy Food Pantry, Loaves & Fishes, Salvation Army, and St.Vincent DePaul.
