What do you enjoy the most about your current position?
The best part of my current position is the diversity of each day. I work with multiple teams which means I face new challenges and get to work with a wide group of people every day. This provides me with a never-ending opportunity to learn and grow within my company.
What is the one thing you would do if you knew you could not fail?
If I knew I could not fail, I would start a non-profit organization to benefit our veterans of the military and law enforcement. Thankfully, other great members of our community have already taken on this challenge so there are lots of existing ways to help out in the Fond du Lac area!
How has YPF contributed to your personal and/or professional development?
YPF has helped to bring me out of my shell and get to know people in the Fond du Lac area. I am still new to working in this area and YPF events have provided a great way to meet people that I may not interact with otherwise.
Who or what is your source of professional inspiration?
I try to find professional inspiration from everyone I work with, but my primary source of inspiration is my parents. Both of my parents have been amazing examples of earning your way and keeping your nose to the grind stone to get where you want to be in life. They are my greatest mentors and my biggest fans when I need a cheering section to get through the tough days!
What are some of the professional and volunteer groups you participate in?
I have participated in multiple YPF and Envision Greater Fond du lac events, including joining the Casino Night committee. These organizations provide an impressive list of events and opportunities throughout the greater Fond du Lac area so they have become my one-stop-shop for filling up my calendar!
In keeping with YPF’s theme for this year, “Create Your Change,” how have you or will you create your change?
I have created my change by focusing on my personal development at work. We all have chaotic work days and it’s very easy to put off development activities because we feel like we have more important things to do. I decided to make personal development a priority by scheduling time in my calendar for training seminars, leadership events and individual learning time. Instead of making my days more chaotic, these opportunities have helped me build my skills and confidence, so I am better able to manage my job tasks every day.
What is your favorite thing to do in the Fond du Lac area?
My husband and I love trying out new restaurants and the Fond du Lac area definitely provides a wide variety of venue choices. We are still trying to determine who has the best Friday night fish fry so if you have any contenders to add to the list, let me know!
Where do you see the Fond du Lac area in 5 years?
I see the Fond du Lac area continuing to grow as a destination for young professionals and growing businesses. Today’s marketplace demands that businesses evolve to embrace technology, changing workplace environments and new ways of thinking. Businesses and professional organizations in Fond du Lac are doing a great job making the area an attractive option for the next generation of leaders which will help the area continue to grow and thrive in the future.
What words of wisdom do you have for other young professionals working in Fond du Lac?
Don’t forget the power of a hand shake. With increased reliance on social media and changing communication methods, many people forget that a hand shake can be the most powerful professional tool in your arsenal. When you shake someone’s hand and look them in the eye, you are far more likely to make a lasting impression and connection. Get out there and shake some hands!
