Sabre Field Hockey Drops Another Heartbreaker at Home

Marian University field hockey (5-7, 1-1 CFHC) surrendered a goal with just 22 seconds remaining in a 2-1 loss to Kenyon.

  • After a scoreless first quarter that didn’t see much offense, junior Allyson Nichols opened the scoring with 7:13 left until halftime with an assist from sophomore Angelene Castro.
  • The Nichols goal proved to be the only score for the first half.
  • The Owls controlled play in the third quarter and found an equalizer with 5:10 left in the stanza.
  • The Sabres had possession for most of the final quarter, but it was Kenyon who scored off of a penalty corner with 22 seconds remaining to steal the non-conference win.

  • Marian finished with a 17-12 advantage in shots including the fourth quarter where Marian held an 8-2 advantage.
  • Each squad had seven shots on goal.
  • Marian had 14 penalty corners to only 11 for the Owls, each team had five chances in the final quarter.
  • Kenyon was called for 63 fouls to 48 for the Sabres.
  • This was the first meeting between the two schools.
