Award presented at THELMA’s Annual Meeting
Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) announced that, in honor of the organization’s 25 years, Members of THELMA are the recipients of the James C. Hubbard Windy Award.
The award goes to an individual or group of individuals who have made a positive impact on THELMA and the Fond du Lac community.
“Our members are an integral part of our success and we are thrilled to give this prestigious award to them,“ said Jacqui Corsi, THELMA’s Executive Director. “They have brought us through our first 25 years, they will bring us the next 25 years.”
The award, which is a model, of the Andrew Redington sculpture that sits on the corner of Marr and Sheboygan streets, will remain on permanent display at THELMA.
This award is different than those given in the past, as it’s a mirror instead of glass. The idea came from Time Magazine’s Person of the Year when it was awarded to “You.”
“For THELMA, the mirror represents that our success is a reflection of our dedicated members,” Corsi said. “Our success is their success.”
You do not have to be a member to step into THELMA or participate in arts programming, however, there are certain benefits members receive as well as the added value they provide to the community by supporting the arts, Corsi added. As a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, all funds received go right back into the community.
Corsi encourages members to take a selfie in the mirror and post to social media with #takeover. Also, while at THELMA, guests should be sure to stop and see the Timeline showing high points of the organization’s last 25 years.
THELMA will be celebrating its anniversary with THELMA members all summer with exclusive specials and offers. The celebrations will culminate with the 25th Anniversary Takeover of Windy Dinner THELMA Style set for Oct. 2. The public is invited to this celebration of arts in the community. There will be music on every floor, food stations, silent auction, a raffle and so much more. THELMA members receive 25% off their ticket.

A Hubbard Windy Award nominee will have served our community and organization with distinction by promoting the following key values:
- Appreciation of the arts as a significant component for the quality of life for the citizens of Fond du Lac.
- Demonstration by example of the power of collaboration between individuals and organizations.
- Fosters and supports the continuing mission of THELMA.
- Helps to raise the visibility of THELMA and Fond du Lac throughout the state.
The Windy Award was renamed in 2013 when THELMA opened to honor James C. Hubbard, a long serving board member and community advocate. Past recipients of the award include Sister Doris Klein, Sister Mary Neff, Sister Judith Schmidt, and Sister Frances Schug, Ray Wifler, Pat Reiher, National Exchange Bank & Trust, Fond du Lac Area Foundation, Dick and Mary Wehner, Ron and Terri Emanuel, Tom Carew, the Michels Family, JoAnn Ward, the Ahern Family, and Wayne Huberty, C.D. Smith, Grande Cheese, Rick and Pat Miller, Mike and Rita Shannon, Marguerite Soffa, and Steve and Lynne Uecker.
THELMA is located at 51 Sheboygan St., in the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac’s Arts and Entertainment District.
THELMA is a member-based, privately funded non-profit dedicated to creating experiences not readily available in the area. Intimate concerts in the Great Hall, street concerts with major performers, outstanding films, and art from world-renowned artists are available at THELMA.
