Envision Greater Fond du Lac to host free webinar on employer resources for retaining employees who have formerly been incarcerated

Envision Greater Fond du Lac, will host a free virtual event entitled Moving from Felony Incarceration to Employment: Community Resources to Support Employment Success on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. This event aims to educate businesses on available resources and the organizations within Fond du Lac County that provide them.

In September, 2020, Envision Greater Fond du Lac, in partnership with Moraine Park Technical College and the Community Corrections Employment Program (CCEP), a program of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC), offered the first in this series – Moving From Felony Incarceration to Employment: A Creative Workforce Solution. The program was well-received and offered a platform for a second event showcasing community resources to support employment success.

During this second event of the series, attendees will hear from a panel of local organizations that offer employment resources, including, Advocap, Forward Service Corporation, and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

All of the resources discussed during the program can be utilized by employers to assist in employee retention, regardless of criminal background.

“Fond du Lac County is expected to have 34,000 new retirees in the next decade. One creative way to assist in filling this employment gap is to hire those who were formerly incarcerated,” Jim Cleveland, Vice President of Economic Development, said. “To ensure success, employees and employers need to be aware of resources in our county that can make this transition successful for all parties involved.”
