Envision Greater Fond du Lac to host City Council Candidate Forum

Providing city residents an opportunity to hear from those running for council open positions

Envision Greater Fond du Lac will host a City Council Candidate Forum on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the City/County Building in the City Council Chambers. The event will be moderated by retired Fond du Lac County Judge, Gary Sharpe.

Each candidate who successfully filed papers to run for three open positions was invited to attend this event. Of those candidates, the following accepted the invitation to attend:

  • Kenneth Cassaday
  • Daniel Degner
  • Lawrence Foster
  • Misty Gedlinske
  • Ben Huizenga
  • Nakiah Johnson
  • Thom Strizek
  • Brett Zimmermann

Keith Heisler is unable to attend, but will provide a written statement. At the time of this release, Patrick Mullen had not responded to the invitation.

Candidates will be in the City Council Chambers, socially-distanced, and asked a series of questions as they pertain to three topics currently impacting the City: Lakeside Park; budget, property taxes, and fees; and public safety. The gallery will be open to those who wish to attend in-person; however, this is limited to the first 40 people (attendees must wear a mask). The forum will also be simulcast on Government Channel 980.

The candidate forum is being held before the Primary Election on Tuesday, February 16 for the City of Fond du Lac residents.  For more information on voter registration and elections for the City of Fond du Lac, please visit fdl.wi.gov/administration/city-clerk/elections/.

After the Primary Election on Tuesday, February 10, the slate of City Council candidates will be narrowed down to six. Those six will then go on to the General Election on Tuesday, April 6.
