A Tree of Honor, A Community of Giving: Help Light Up Veterans Park

The Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership, in collaboration with the Fond du Lac County Veterans Service Office, is calling on the community to help bring a beautiful new holiday tradition to the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac: a 20-foot illuminated Christmas tree in Veterans Park.

The initiative aims to transform Veterans Park into a festive gathering place where families, veterans, and community members can come together to celebrate the holiday season, create lasting memories, and honor the men and women who have served our country.

More than just a holiday decoration, the Christmas tree is envisioned as a lasting symbol of community, gratitude, and togetherness. Organizers hope the display will become an annual tradition, offering a special place for families to take holiday photographs, children to experience the magic of Christmas, and generations to gather in appreciation of the freedoms made possible by our veterans.

The proposed 20-foot tree, costing just over $17,000, is designed to be expanded in future years, allowing the display to grow alongside the community’s support and become an even more prominent holiday landmark in Downtown Fond du Lac.

Thanks to the generosity of local individuals, businesses, and community supporters, $12,039 has already been raised toward the project. The Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership and Fond du Lac County Veterans Service Office would like to extend a special thank you to Holy Family Catholic Church and Navy Club Ship 75 for their generous contributions toward bringing this vision to life.

We would also like to recognize and thank each and every individual, family, business, and organization that has contributed to this project. Whether large or small, every donation brings us one step closer to our goal. The generosity and community spirit shown throughout this effort are a wonderful reminder of what makes Fond du Lac such a special place.

While fundraising efforts are off to a wonderful start, additional donations are needed to reach the project’s goal. Individuals, families, organizations, and businesses are encouraged to contribute, with donations of any amount making a difference.

Organizers hope the glow of the Christmas tree will serve as a reminder of the importance of family, community, gratitude, and the sacrifices made by veterans and their loved ones. By creating a welcoming and festive space in Veterans Memorial Park, the project seeks to bring additional holiday cheer to Downtown Fond du Lac while honoring the park’s significance.
