Sabre women’s soccer falters late against Carroll

Marian University women’s soccer (1-2-2, 0-0-0 NACC) put together a strong defensive effort in the opening half against Carroll University but fell to the Pioneers 3-0.

  • The Sabres came out strong against the Pioneers outshooting Carroll 3-1 while holding a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Despite controlling possession and creating offensive opportunities, Marian was unable to find the back of the net in the opening half.
  • The two teams entered halftime locked in a scoreless 0-0 tie.
  • The game remained deadlocked until the 49:47 mark, when the Pioneers broke through with the first goal of the contest to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Carroll added two more goals before the final whistle securing the 3-0 victory over the Sabres.

  • Carroll finished with 11 shots and eight shots on goal, compared to five Marian shots, three of which were on frame.
  • The Pioneers held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks over the Sabres.
  • The Sabres committed three fouls, while the Pioneers were called for eight fouls.
