Marian University field hockey (1-1, 0-0 CFHC) scored the lone goal of the fourth quarter to defeat DePauw 3-2 in its home opener.
 

• A defensive battle opened as neither team was able to find any momentum offensively.
• The Sabres opened the scoring when Charlotte Touw buried a penalty-stroke shot into the left upper 90 with just 1:39 left in the first quarter.
• The lead was short lived as DePauw knotted the game just 2:21 into the second quarter.
• Marian had an immediate response with Shaelyn Klassen poking a ball over the line just 57 seconds later to give Marian the lead at 2-1.
• That 2-1 advantage lead held going into the halftime break.
• A quick strike after the intermission saw DePauw tie the game just 1:08 into the second half.
• The 2-2 stalemate held all the way into the final quarter when Klassen forced a turnover, and beat the keeper herself with 9:02 left to play.
• The Sabre defense stood tall the rest of the way limiting the Tigers to just one shot in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

• Marian finished with a 10-9 advantage for shots, 8-4 for shots on frame.
• The Tigers had nine penalty-corner chances to only three for Marian.
• DePauw also had 37 fouls to only 30 for the Sabres.
• This is the first win for Marian over DePauw in four games all-time.
• Marian is also 4-1 all-time in its first home game of the season.

	Shaelyn Klassen had the second multi-goal game of her career and netted the game-winner.
	Charlotte Touw opened the scoring for the game with her first goal of the season.
	Emily Clarey (1-1) made a pair of saves in goal.
