Sabre men’s soccer rally comes up short against Vikings

Marian University men’s soccer (0-2-1, 0-0-0 NACC) rallied in the second half but ultimately fell 4-2 to Lawrence.

  • Lawrence controlled play throughout the opening half, outshooting the Sabres 9-0.
  • At 30:15, the Vikings broke through the Marian defense to score the opening goal of the game.
  • Lawrence continued to apply offensive pressure, resulting in another goal at the 37:38 mark to extend their lead to 2-0 heading into halftime.
  • The Vikings added another goal at the 54:00 mark, bringing the score to 3-0 early in the second half.
  • At the 68:12 mark, Marian earned a corner kick and Brayden Johnson capitalized on the opportunity with a header that found the back of the net.
  • The Vikings responded quickly, scoring their fourth goal at the 70:02 mark.
  • At 72:34, Esteban Alvarado converted a penalty kick to bring the Marian deficit back to two.
  • The final minutes of the game saw no additional scoring from either side, as the Vikings secured a 4-2 victory over the Sabres.
