Sabre women’s golf opens season at Falcon Invite

Marian University women’s golf had rounds of 346 and 330 to finish fifth at the Falcon Invite.

  • Jessy Merrell competed as an individual but led the Sabres with back-to-back rounds of 79.
  • She cracked the top 10 for the event finishing in a tie for sixth and had three birdies between the two rounds.
  • Leading the way for the Marian lineup was Yinan Lu who had a 78 followed by an 84.
  • Katelyn Bucciarelli also had a 78 coming in the second round and finished in a tie for 22nd.
  • Allison Cink improved by five strokes between rounds with an 82 in the second round, while Olivia Schueller scored in each round with a 92 and 86.
  • Trinity Knudtson closed the Marian lineup with her second round of 88 marking a six-stroke improvement between rounds.
  • Kadence Ulrich and Hailie Knudtson finished within a stroke of each other as individuals with Knudtson, H. carding an 88 in the second round.
  • Addison Thrasher had a two-round total of 222 in her first collegiate event.
  • UW-Stout won the event with 614 strokes and were led by Julia Imai who was two-over-par to earn medalist honors.
