Wisconsin Rapids Defeats Fond du Lac, 7-6
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders fell in their final road game of the 2026 season after a 7-6 walk-off defeat to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters at Witter Field.
The Dock Spiders jumped out to a 6-0 lead through the first five innings, scoring a pair of runs in the second inning on a two-RBI single from Evan Abbott. In the third inning, Fond du Lac scored three more runs on an error and a two-run home run from Carter Kelley. In the top of the fifth, the Dock Spiders punctuated their six-run advantage with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch.
The Rafters then gained momentum, scoring six unanswered runs to tie the game heading into the ninth inning. Fond du Lac went down in order in the top of the ninth before Wisconsin Rapids walked off the Dock Spiders on a Connor Harvie RBI single in the bottom of the frame. The Dock Spiders suffered their 16th one-run loss of the season and their seventh walk-off loss of the summer.
Fond du Lac’s offense outhit Wisconsin Rapids 11-8 and earned five walks, but 14 strikeouts limited the Dock Spiders at the plate.
Starting pitcher Morgan Garrett threw four innings of no-hit baseball while striking out five batters. The Dock Spiders’ pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts.
With the loss, the season series between the two teams moved to 4-3 in favor of Fond du Lac, with a potential season-series-clinching game taking place Saturday in the regular-season finale.
The Dock Spiders return to Herr-Baker Field on Saturday for a 4:05 p.m. matchup against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Saturday is Fan Appreciation Night, presented by Badger Soft Water. Fans can celebrate the final regular-season home game with special drawings, surprises and giveaways throughout the evening. Following the game, kids can enjoy Kids Run the Bases, presented by Grande Cheese and A&W, featuring a player high-five line and a treat from A&W at home plate.
