What do you enjoy the most about your career?
What I enjoy most about my career is getting to work with people and how diverse my role is. I serve on a variety of boards and committees in the community, and I really enjoy making new connections and collaborating with different people. I feel I have a good mix of duties with getting to work with Fond du Lac County employees on recruitment and retention efforts, as well as getting to promote Fond du Lac County and all the great things our departments do externally.
What words of wisdom would you share with other YP’s in relation to career building?
My words of wisdom regarding career building is a quote by Seth Godin, “if it scares you, it might be a good thing to try.” There are so many opportunities in life, you just have to be willing to try and be willing to step outside your comfort zone.
Who or what inspires and motivates you to be your best?
My kids are my motivation to be a better person every day. I want my kid’s future to be bright and for them to have opportunity. I am passionate about teaching them that life isn’t about being the best, but rather about being the best version of yourself. I try my best to model that by owning and learning from my mistakes, as well as showing them how important it is to never give up, even when it’s hard.
What are 3 Characteristics and/or Strengths that make you who you are?
I would say my three characteristics of who I am are driven, outgoing, and have a huge heart to help others.
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time/a hobby you enjoy?
I have a six year old and a two year old that keep me busy, and we enjoy doing things in the community and exploring new activities and places as a family. We enjoy our county and all the great things that are offered here to keep us busy!
What is your favorite part about being in YPF and how has it benefited you?
My favorite part about being in YPF is getting to meet so many different people. I love meeting and socializing with people in different walks of life and with different personalities. YPF has awarded me the opportunity to meet a lot of great people and has been the start of some amazing friendships!
What does community engagement look like for you?
Community engagement to me looks like serving and giving back to my community. I serve as a board member at the Fond du Lac Children’s Museum, FDL SHRM board, and Marine Credit Union Foundation, am vice chair of YPF’s planning and events committee, and am currently serving on Noon Kiwanis of Fond du Lac. Along with that, I am involved in giving back to my family’s church, Centerpoint Church. My six year old and I have had a blast getting involved by volunteering and giving back together. It has been rewarding to teach him how to give back and show him how good it feels to serve our community!
Share a lesson you have learned or a nugget of advice with other YP’s:
As cliché as it sounds, the best nugget of advice I have is to get involved in YP. Our community is rich with opportunity to get involved, meet new people, and network! YPF is the perfect way to get started with doing all of these things.
What do you love about the Fond du Lac area today and what is your hope for it’s tomorrow?
What I love most about the Fond du Lac area is how devoted our communities are to keep this area vibrant and a great place to live! There are a variety of organizations coming together to brainstorms ideas to make this community grow and thrive. If you look around, there’s always something going on, whether you want kid-friendly or adult only options. My hope for the Fond du Lac area is that we keep our momentum going and push through to keep our area growing and prospering!
