YP of the Month – October 2019: Jens Jorgensen

Jens Jorgensen

Hometown: Janesville, WI
Educational Background: Graduated from Janesville Craig High School in 2015
Describe Yourself in Three Words: Driven, Passionate, Relentless
Place of Employment and Position: Store Manager at US Cellular on Johnson St

What do you enjoy the most about your current position?
I enjoy helping to create an environment that is easy for customers to do business with us and be treated fairly.

What is the one thing you would do if you knew you could not fail?
I would go skydiving if I knew everything would go according to plan.

How has YPF contributed to your personal and/or professional development?
I moved to Fond du Lac in April and did not know a single person here. YPF has introduced me to a group of other young driven individuals who are doing amazing things in the Fond du Lac area. I have also met many of my friends through YPF.

Who or what is your source of professional inspiration?
My professional inspiration is my Dad, Andy Jorgensen. He worked at the General Motors assembly plant in Janesville on the line for years. He had wanted to become more involved in local and State politics, so he ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly where he served the people of his district for 10 years. Watching him as I grew up, I got to see firsthand what someone who cares about the people they serve can accomplish. He is a true role model of what following your passions looks like.

In keeping with YPF’s theme for this year, “Create Your Change,” how have you or will you create your change?
I’m keeping with the theme of “Create Your Change” by becoming involved in groups and organizations in our community through volunteer work. I want to help these organizations with their mission of improving the quality of life in the city that has become my new home.

What is your favorite thing to do in the Fond du Lac area?
I love attending the concerts, festivals, and events that we have going on in the area with my friends. There is always something to do here.

Where do you see the Fond du Lac area in 5 years?
I feel this is an exciting time to be in the Fond du Lac area. There is so much growth and development happening here, I’m honored to be a part of it. I also think that we will become recognized more and more as one of the best communities to live, work, and play in. I am very proud to call Fond du Lac home.

What words of wisdom do you have for other young professionals working in Fond du Lac?
Join and become involved in YPF and other organizations in the area that you are passionate about. You will get opportunities to meet new people and better the community that you live in.
