First and Last Name: Logan DeMaa
Hometown: Waupun, WI
What Brought you to Fond du Lac: I grew up in Waupun and my wife is from Indiana. Being in Fond du Lac gives us access to multiple different activities, restaurants, and things to do with the family while being in a small enough city where you can build connections.
Place of Employment and Position: Thrivent, Managing partner of Legacy Financial Group
What do you enjoy the most about your career? I really enjoy building the lifelong relationships with my clients and helping them through all phases of life. Thrivent gives me the platform to put my client’s goals first and build a business that I can be proud of. I love the flexibility to be involved in the community and leave an impact that is much larger than me.
What words of wisdom would you share with other YP’s in relation to career building? Find a career path that you are excited to wake up and start the day for. When you love what you do, it is like you are not even working. Lastly, do not put a ceiling on your goals. You can achieve anything you work hard for.
Who or what inspires and motivates you to be your best? My wife and son are the biggest motivators. My wife and I have family goals that I know I can only achieve if I am the best version of myself. As for my son, I want him to grow up excited to tell people about his dad.
What are 3 Characteristics and/or Strengths that make you who you are? I am personable, I put others before me, and I am ambitious.
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time/a hobby you enjoy? Outside of work, I enjoy golfing and camping with my family.
Name something you enjoy doing in the Greater Fond du Lac Area that others should check out: I really enjoy having the variety of restaurants in the area. Some of my favorites are fresh fit café for a quick meal, Sully’s of Fond Du Lac, and Hometown Nutrition. Aside from that, I play a lot a golf, so you cannot go wrong with any of the courses in Fond Du Lac.
What is your favorite part about being in YPF and how has it benefited you? My favorite part about being in YPF is the number of opportunities it provides to be involved and make relationships with other young professionals. I have not only built several connections with other people, but I have also learned and developed my skills in areas I don’t always get to work on from participating in the marketing committee.
(If you are not involved with YPF you can skip this question, but we hope you will consider checking us out! Let me know if you would like more info!)
How do you engage in our community? Aside from the YPF events, I am a golf coach at Waupun High School. I sit on the board of the Arc of Fond Du Lac, and REACH Waupun. I also participate in several downtown events throughout the year. I participate in a variety of charitable golf outings and different golfing activities.
Share a lesson you have learned or a nugget of advice with other YP’s: Never stop investing in yourself and always be willing to learn and share your ideas. Build genuine relationships with people that inspire you to be a better professional and a better person. The more you get involved the easier it is to become a familiar face which can lead to several different opportunities. Lastly, find avenues to leave an impact and give back to things that you are enthusiastic about.
What do you love about the Greater Fond du Lac Area today and what is your hope for its future in the years to come? I really enjoy the developing downtown. It is fun to be a part of the downtown area and see all the activities and business it brings to small business owners. I look forward to seeing how the city develops and continues to grow for the generations to come.
