YP of the Month (August 2024) – Zoelle Reinke

First and Last Name: Dr. Zoelle Reinke

Hometown: Fond du Lac

What Brought you to Fond du Lac: Returning to my hometown as a business owner was a mix of nostalgia, opportunity, and a desire to contribute to my community. After years away in different states for college, I realized the potential in my hometown—its welcoming community, expanding downtown network , and the chance to create something meaningful where I grew up. Being familiar with the local culture and needs gave me a unique advantage in starting a business that could genuinely serve and thrive in the area. It’s been a rewarding journey, combining my entrepreneurial spirit with a deep connection to my roots that helped shape me to who I am today!

Place of Employment and Position: CEO/Chiropractor at New Directions Chiropractic

What do you enjoy the most about your career? Overall, the combination of making a positive impact on children’s health, forming meaningful connections with families, educating the community on an alternative health care path, and practicing holistic care are some of the aspects of being a pediatric chiropractor that I love!

What words of wisdom would you share with other YP’s in relation to career building? Get uncomfortable! Stepping into unfamiliar territory often requires learning new skills and acquiring knowledge that can enhance your capabilities and broaden your perspective. I would encourage embracing discomfort as a pathway to growth and success. Whether it’s taking on a challenging project, learning a new skill, or pursuing a different role, stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to valuable experiences and opportunities for development – both personally and professionally.

Who or what inspires and motivates you to be your best? For me, having a sense of purpose is everything. Each day, I get to engage in work that I am passionate about, making a positive impact on the community and transforming lives. My inherent curiosity drives me to explore new research and seek out knowledge, allowing me to continually enhance my skills and deliver the highest quality of care

What are 3 Characteristics and/or Strengths that make you who you are?
Authenticity, Adaptability, Honesty

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time/a hobby you enjoy? I love to be outside as much as I can, and even better if I can be on the lake. Most weekends you can either catch me on the lake fishing, kayaking, or just floating with friends. I enjoy a good book, puzzle, and even painting once in a while.

What is your favorite part about being in YPF and how has it benefited you? Returning to my hometown at 24 to start my own business was quite intimidating. YPF played a crucial role in boosting my confidence and paving the way for success. It connected me with local experts who offered valuable advice, fostered new fun friendships, and provided numerous learning opportunities.

What does community engagement look like for you? Actively participating in activities that contribute to the well-being and development of our community. It involves building relationships, fostering dialogue about what needs change, and collaborating with community members to address needs, solve problems, and create positive change. For me, this is doing community wellness talks, participating in community events, and helping where I can.

Share a lesson you have learned or a nugget of advice with other YP’s: Prioritizing yourself can often take a back seat when embarking on new ventures like starting a business. Burnout can swiftly follow when you’re fully committed, making self-care just as crucial—if not more so—than your career. At the end of the day, your family, friendships, and relationships are what is most important.

What do you love about the Fond du Lac area today and what is your hope for it’s tomorrow? I’m passionate about our community here in FDL. We have incredible potential for growth in all areas, and the people of FDL are dedicated to enhancing our community through new resources, businesses, and relationships. Being downtown has enabled me to build strong connections with fellow business owners, collaborating to not only improve our individual enterprises but also to collectively contribute to the community. My hope for the future is that we can continue to grow in a positive direction and bring continuous improvement to Fond du Lac.
