YP of the Month – June 2019: Amber Bodart

Hometown: Fond du Lac, WI

Describe Yourself in Three Words: purposeful, dedicated, optimistic

Place of Employment and Position: Mortgage Architect – Verve, a Credit Union

What do you enjoy the most about your current position?

I love that I am empowered to help my members in my own unique way, using my natural talents. I am encouraged to act as a leader in all aspects of my job. Helping people to finance their homes is quite the complicated journey, and I just love helping them every step of the way. From the first time home buyer, to the experienced investor, it’s all pretty fun and there’s never a dull moment.

What is the one thing you would do if you knew you could not fail?

If I knew I could not fail, I would probably start my own furniture refurnishing business. I love finding old pieces and making them new and beautiful again!

How has YPF contributed to your personal and/or professional development?

YPF has contributed in my professional development in many ways. One of my life’s greatest passions is helping people. From being involved in YPF, I have met so many new people and made connections I never would have been able to make before. Being able to help people make connections to help each other is a pretty amazing experience.

Who or what is your source of professional inspiration?

I value community, so I have to say my source of inspiration is my members here at the credit union. I started at Verve 6 years ago as Member Advocate (teller). My passion for helping people grew me into many new positions over the years. I find such a sense of pride and accomplishment know that I’ve made a difference in someones life. It drives me to do beyond my very best for every single member!

What are some of the professional and volunteer groups you participate in?

I am currently serving on Fond du Lac’s very own Membership Committee for our YP group. I am also serving on the Steering Committee for Verve’s internal Young Professional group.

What is your favorite thing to do in the Fond du Lac area?

I love to go hiking with my boys at Hobbs or Kiekhaefer Park. Otherwise I love taking advantage of the great golf courses in our area! I love that Camelot has the kid’s tees so I can enjoy my favorite hobby with my oldest son. You can also find us at the Sweet & Salty Pig for brunch.

Where do you see the Fond du Lac area in 5 years?

I am so beyond optimistic about the future of Fond du Lac!  The positive changes I’ve been seeing in my hometown are so encouraging. In being involved with our YPF, I am able to interact with so many of the wonderful people who are shaping our community, and it’s a privilege to work with them. Fond du Lac is in great hands to continue to grow and thrive! I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

What words of wisdom do you have for other young professionals working in Fond du Lac?

To be perfectly honest, I feel awkward answering this as a YP…that’s why I stay involved with YPF, I’m here to learn. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned along the way, it’s the power of community and putting yourself out there. The more people you get to know, the more you learn and the better you are, and the better you serve the people around you.
