Young Professional of the Month – April 2018: Sadie Parafiniuk

Hometown: St. Cloud, Wisconsin

Education: Bachelor of Science in Economics from UW – La Crosse. Masters in Public Administration from UW – Oshkosh.

Where do you work, what is your current position and what do you like most about it?

Currently, I am the Deputy District Director for Congressman Glenn Grothman. My favorite part of the job is overseeing the caseworkers and interacting with constituents who come to the Congressman looking for help.

What has YPF done for your personal and/or professional development?

YPF has introduced me to new friends. It can be difficult to make friends after college and I can thank YPF for opening up new social opportunities for me. Also, YPF has connected me with other professionals who have given me great professional development advice.

What are some of the professional and volunteer groups you participate in?

I am a member of Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis and the Fond du Lac Chapter of Women in Management where I am the Assistant Bylaws Chair. I’m also a member of Ladies Wine & Design.

Where do you see the Fond du Lac area in 5 years?

I want to see Fond du Lac as a community that develops and supports women’s professional development and opportunities, it’s something I’m really passionate about.

What words of wisdom do you have for other young professionals working in Fond du Lac?
Network and connect! I try to tell our interns and young people all the time the value of networking and asking for advice. Ask your manager how you can develop a certain skill, ask a fellow YPF member how they came to be in their role and learn something from that.
