Yellowjackets pull away from Sabre women’s basketball in second half

Marian University women’s basketball (0-1, 0-0 NACC) dropped its first game of the season 73-44 to a UW-Superior team picked to win its conference.

  • After some back-and-forth, UW-Superior scored 13 straight points to lead 20-7 and 3:05 left in the first quarter.
  • The Yellowjackets maintained a double-digit lead by 26-15 at the first horn of the night.
  • UWS build its lead to 15 points before Marian showed some life with an 8-1 run to only trail eight.
  • A strong finish to the quarter from UW-Superior saw the Yellowjackets take a 38-24 lead into the break after a 7-1 spurt.
  • Marian stayed in the game only trailing 46-34 with 2:35 left in the third quarter before UWS pulled away with a 10-1 run.
  • UWS was able to outscore Marian 17-9 in the final quarter to put the final score at 73-44.
