Yahr added to Marian men’s and women’s volleyball coaching staff

Marian University men’s and women’s volleyball has announced the addition of Amber Yahr to the coaching staff.

“Amber will be a great addition to both the men’s and women’s programs with her coaching and playing background,” said Head Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Coach Blake Badtke.  “Amber has a passion for the game and will be a great role model in our program for all of our student-athletes.

Yahr was a setter for the Sabre women’s volleyball program from 2016-2019 competing in 102 matches.  She amassed 1,645 assists in her career which ranks seventh all-time in the Marian record books.  She also had 88 service aces, 799 digs, and 60 total blocks.  In her senior season, Yahr had a career-best 704 assists, 7.4 assists per set, to go with 21 service aces, and 271 digs.  Along with her work on the court, her leadership saw her serve as a captain for three years of her career.

“I’m so excited to be back in the gym and to work with both Marian volleyball programs,” said Yahr.  “I want to thank Blake Badtke, Tony Draves, and he rest of the athletic department for this opportunity to help continue to grow both programs and mentor young student-athletes both on and off the court.”

Since graduating from Marian in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree, Yahr has spent her time coaching for the Fond du Lac Fusion.  Her coaching philosophy is centered around building a competitive and respectful team environment, where student-athletes can develop their skills, character, and confidence on and off the court.
