Renovations Complete, Public Welcome
Werner Harmsen Funeral Home will host an open house on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 2 to 6:30 p.m., at its Cambria location. The facility located at 323 Mary Street, Cambria, previously operated as Kratz Smedema Funeral Home until Werner Harmsen acquired the business in September 2024.
Since then, Werner Harmsen partnered with Tillema Electric, PHE Contractors and D&D Lawn Service to renovate the funeral home’s interior and spruce up the exterior – installing new carpeting and window covers, refinishing walls and updating the family room, as well as upgrading furniture, tables and chairs to maximize the building’s functional space and create a modernized warm and welcoming environment.
“When we purchased Kratz Smedema, it was more than an investment in a building or our business, it was an intentional commitment to meet the funeral and final arrangement needs in the greater Cambria community for years to come,” explained Tyler Schulz, owner of Werner Harmsen. “We’ve been steadfast in assisting families since our founder, Mike Werner, started the business in Waupun 57 years ago and updating the Cambria facility was the first step in our commitment to the new communities we’re serving.”
The public is invited to the open house that will feature tours of the renovated interior, opportunities to meet the Werner Harmsen team of funeral directors, raffle baskets and light refreshments. No RSVP is required.
Werner Harmsen Funeral Home provides traditional embalmment, cremation, Veteran-specific, graveside and memorial services, as well as personalized pre-planning and in-need funeral support.
