City of Fond du Lac – Weekly Construction Update

The City of Fond du Lac is providing a weekly update on construction projects located within the corporate boundary. The Weekly Construction Updates and Construction Map are posted on the City’s Website at www.fdl.wi.gov

Main Street/Court Street – Merrill Avenue to Sixth Street
Schedule: April 7 through August 29
Description: The project includes fiber, private lead replacement, repairs to curb, gutter, crosswalks/ramps, utility structures, water main replacement between Court St & Western Ave and milling and overlaying asphalt surface.
August 11 to August 15: The contactor will remove remaining paver crosswalks, begin curb and gutter placement on Court Street, and begin milling and pulverizing operations on Main Street in Phase 2.
Traffic Impacts: Tuesday, August 12 Phase 2 (1st Street to 6th Street) of the Main Street Project will be closed to through traffic for crosswalk removals and start of milling operations. Access to businesses will be maintained, although there may be minor disruptions. Motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour which includes 9th Street, Division Street, and Military Road.

2025 Mill & Overlay Program/Lakeside Pavilion Parking Lot
Schedule: July 28 through Mid-September
Description: The project includes manhole adjustments, spot curb and gutter replacement, milling pavement, and overlay of asphalt.
August 11 to August 15: The utility contractor will continue storm and sanitary repairs on Peters Ave and Camelot Dr. The concrete contractor continues curb and gutter replacement on Peters Avenue and scheduled to start curb & gutter on Camelot Drive. The Lakeside Park Pavilion parking lot was pulverized, and the electrical contractor will begin. 

Project Locations:

  • Peters Avenue: From Division Street to the N. Berger Parkway Intersection
  • Camelot Drive: From 250 Camelot Drive (Grande Cheese) to Highway 151

Traffic Impacts: Camelot Drive and Peters Ave will remain open to traffic; however motorists may experience delays during this project, but we will maintain local traffic and driveway access whenever possible.

Bridge Rehabilitation and Maintenance
Schedule: July 7 through fall of 2025
Description: The project includes bridge deck asphalt & polymer overlay, surface repair, riprap, sidewalk, approach paving and railing painting. Rehabilitation and Maint. work is planned for Scott Street, 4th Street and Divisions St. over DeNeveu Creek; Park Avenue over South Ditch and Baseball Island Bridge in Lakeside Park.    
August 11 to August 15: The Scott Street Bridge has been opened by the contractor, and they will return to complete the railing painting and installation. Baseball Island bridge is completed and open for access. Work on Park Ave. over the south ditch will continue will riprap placement, railing, sidewalk and bridge repairs.
Traffic Impacts: Scott Street will be closed from Taft Street to Wettstein Avenue for the month of July.  A signed detour route will be in place.

Bridge Sealing Project
Schedule: August 11 through Mid-September
Description: A project is underway in the city to perform maintenance on 15 bridges. The scope of work for each bridge includes Sealing: The decks, sidewalks, and parapets will be sealed to protect them from environmental damage. Crack- Filling: Cracks in the bridge structure will be filled to prevent further deterioration and water infiltration. Joints: The joints will be cleaned, and the approach sidewalk joints will be sealed.
August 11 to August 15: The contractor is planning to start this week beginning with bridges on south side of town working north.
Traffic Impacts: During bridge sealing work, traffic flow will be managed with a combination of lane shifts and potential flagging operations. Lane Shifts – The bridge will be reduced to two lanes, with traffic shifted to one side of the road. Flagger Operations – If the two-lane shift is not possible due to space constraints, traffic may be controlled by flaggers. Johnson Street Bridge – Two lanes will be maintained for traffic on the Johnson Street bridge throughout the duration of the work. There will be no official detour route for this project.

Poplar Street – Hickory Street to Military Road
Schedule: June through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
August 11 to August 15: Restoration contractor will finish placing topsoil, seed and hydro mulch. Manhole castings will be adjusted midweek ahead of the asphalt contractor fine grading.
Traffic Impacts: Poplar Street will be closed to through traffic from Hickory Street to Military Road. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

Algoma Street – E. Division Street to E. Merrill Avenue
Schedule: June through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
August 11 to August 15: The utility contractor will continue sanitary, water lateral installation and start storm sewer main installation mid-week.
Traffic Impacts: Algoma Street will be closed to through traffic from E. Division Street to E. Merrill Avenue. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

Cottage Avenue – E. Division Street to Maple Avenue
Schedule: April through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
August 11 to August 15: No Work anticipated.
Traffic Impacts: Cottage Ave remains open to traffic.

Oaklawn Avenue – E. Division Street to E. Merrill Avenue
Schedule: April through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
August 11 to August 15: No Work anticipated.
Traffic Impacts: Oaklawn Ave remains open to traffic.

E. Merrill Avenue – Cottage Avenue to DeNeveu Creek
Schedule: April through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
August 11 to August 15: No Work anticipated.  
Traffic Impacts: Merrill Ave remains open to traffic.

E. Merrill Avenue – Elm Tree Lane to N. Kayser Street
Schedule: July through October
Description: The project includes water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, and restoration/landscaping.
August 11 to August 15: Grading contractor will continue with road excavation and base aggregate placement.
Traffic Impacts: E. Merrill Avenue will be closed to through traffic from DeNevue Creek to N. Kayser Street. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

Promen Drive Bridge Replacement
Schedule: June 16 through fall of 2025
Description: In partnership with the WI Department of Transportation the project includes replacing the existing bridge structure and approaches.  
August 11 to August 15: Crews completed the concrete pour of the west abutment and wings.  They will continue tying steel for the east abutment and wings and are scheduled to pour the east by the end of the week.   
Traffic Impacts: Promen Drive Bridge will be closed to vehicle and pedestrians traffic within Lakeside Park.
