Fond du Lac School District Announces Amy Kunstman as Principal at the STEM Academy

The Fond du Lac School District (FDL-SD) is pleased to announce that Amy Kunstman will assume the role of principal at the STEM Academy, effective July 1, 2024. Ms. Kunstman currently is Roberts Elementary Principal.

With her experience within the FDL-SD, Ms. Kunstman is poised to make an impact at our STEM Academy. Before her tenure at Roberts Elementary, she was an assistant principal at Theisen Middle School.

In addition to her new role, Ms. Kunstman will continue her duties as the District Fine Arts Coordinator, a position she has held since 2018. Her background is rich in music education, with experience as an elementary music teacher within FDL-SD and as a middle school music teacher in Hartford. She has also taught music at the elementary level in Plymouth and Sheboygan. Her background allows her to continue her prior work with secondary students.

Ms. Kunstman earned a Master’s in Education degree from Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee) and obtained her administrative license from Concordia University Wisconsin (Mequon). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Lakeland University (Sheboygan).

Her promotion from the FDL-SD Administrator Hiring Pool as the second individual showcases our district’s strategy for leadership succession. This initiative allows staff to pursue administrative roles, providing feedback on their interview performance and adding successful candidates to an internal pool for future consideration.

“While I will miss the students, staff and families at Roberts, I am excited to work with the STEM Academy staff, Governance Board and community partners to provide a unique educational experience for students through project-based learning,” said Kunstman. “I look forward to the engaging environment where students thrive through choice and innovation.”

“Ms. Kunstman’s leadership has enriched both academic and co-curricular experiences, especially as Fine Arts Coordinator,” said Dr. Jeff Fleig, Superintendent. “Her unique approach creates a nurturing space for exploration and excellence. We are moving towards transformative learning that combines arts and sciences, fostering creativity and critical thinking. Amy’s vision is key to guiding our students in this innovative, interdisciplinary direction.”

With Ms. Kunstman’s leadership shift, the FDL-SD will look to announce a new Roberts principal in the coming months to begin the 2024-25 school year.
