Three Sabres from the Marian University women’s lacrosse program have been named to the Academic All-District team by the organization College Sports Communicators.
The CSC Academic All-American program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their efforts both in competition and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must compete in 90 percent of their team’s games, be a key starter or reserve on their team, and attain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5. They must also hold at least sophomore standing at their institution.
Senior Isabel Davis (Hoagland, Ind.) earns her first CSC Academic All-District award after being named All-NACC to close out her career. Davis had her best season statistically finishing the year with 42 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. She also spent one game in cage for the Sabres where she made 12 saves against Beloit. Davis had at least three ground balls in seven games this season and was the cause for multiple turnovers five times. She opened the season with five ground balls against Carthage and then had three caused turnovers on the road at MSOE. Davis is one of just nine student-athletes in program history to reach 100 career ground balls and also ended her career with 50 caused turnovers.
Senior Emma Heide (Kenosha, Wis.) had the best scoring season of her career to earn her second CSC Academic All-District award. She scored 32 goals on th season and also set career-highs with 40 ground balls, 30 caused turnovers, and 38 draw controls. Heide had four games this season with at least three goals. She had a season-high five-point game against UWSP where she had three goals to go with two assists. She also had seven ground balls against Carroll and five caused turnovers against UW-Stout. Heide exits the Sabre women’s lacrosse program third all-time for points, second for assists, and the program leader for caused turnovers.
Senior Nicole Stachon (Kenosha, Wis.) earns a spot on the CSC Academic All-District team for the second time as she closed out a spectacular career at Marian. Stachon enjoyed a career year in all pertinent statistical categories ranking sixth in the NACC for goals per game and eighth in the conference for points per game. She became just the second Sabre in Marian women’s lacrosse history to reach 70 points with her 73 total points, while also setting a program record for assists with 18. Stachon had at least five points in nine games and ended her career with a career-high eight goals in an 18-4 win over Lawrence. She graduates the all-time leader for games played, games started, points, goals, assists, ground balls, and draw controls.
