Marian University Athletics has announced that Brandon Bodart has been promoted to serve in an assistant athletic director position.
“Congratulations to Brandon on being named an assistant athletic director,” said Director of Athletics Tony Draves. “‘Brando’ has done an excellent job of communicating the successes of our department to the world, and is very deserving of this promotion. We look forward to expanding his role in our gameday experience and social media presence.”
Bodart joined the Sabres in 2015 as a graduate assistant and has served as the director of athletic communications since 2017. He currently oversees communications, social media initiatives, and gameday management efforts for all 21 NCAA sports and five club teams. During his tenure, Sabre Athletics has introduced five varsity programs and all five club teams. The Marian Sports Network, the official live feed for Marian Athletics, has more than doubled its average viewership under his leadership. During home games, he has handled several roles including, but not limited to, official statistician, public address announcer, and play-by-play broadcaster, often times filling multiple roles. Bodart also spends time during the summer with the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders of the Northwoods League serving as an official scorer along with other various gameday operation positions.
“I’m incredibly honored and excited to step into this new role,” said Bodart. “Marian has felt like a second family to me since my first day on campus and I couldn’t be more grateful to be a Sabre. I look forward to continuing to contribute to Marian University and working with an already talented team to achieve greater things.”
He began his professional career at Northern Michigan University where he spent one year as an intern for the Wildcats. During that time, he served as the primary contact for volleyball, cross country, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, and track and field. Bodart also served as a secondary contact for the Wildcat football program and NCAA Divsion I men’s ice hockey program where he was responsible for the creation and dissemination of weekly game notes for both programs.
Bodart spent his undergraduate days at Northland College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in atmospheric sciences with minors in geographic information systems and physics in May of 2014. During this time he served as a student-worker in the sports information department and in the final months of his undergraduate studies served as the interim sports information director. He was a prominent member of the baseball team earning two all-conference awards as a pitcher and graduated as the program leader for wins, innings pitched, and complete games. Bodart also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative for the baseball team in his senior season.
