Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) announced today it’s taking it annual summer theatrical adventure online with “The Show Must Go Online.”

The show, the first of its kind musical written to be rehearsed remotely, performed virtually, and shared with audiences online, supplants “Bots” as THELMA’s arts day camp this summer. “Bots” will return in summer 2021.

The storyline for “The Show Must Go Online” is linear, made up of monologues and songs intended to be performed as solos.

When these scenes are video recorded and played in sequence, it presents a complete musical theater experience available to any audience with an internet connection. Actors will practice their parts, video conference with or record/send to the director, David Hein, Fond du Lac Children’s Chorale Artistic Director.

Hein will work with the students in small groups and as a whole via Zoom so the students can also get to know each other.

“We know On Stage @ THELMA is a meaningful program for our students in terms of the relationships they form so we are hopeful we can still provide that, just virtually,” said Jacqui Corsi, THELMA Executive Director.

Created during the COVID-19 pandemic, “The Show Must Go Online” was made specifically for all the young performers and communities affected by this unprecedented circumstance.

Fourth through eighth grade students will learn the lines and the music, create their video of their part at home and will be featured in a video that will be shown online for all to see.

Camp date are July 6 through July 29 with student schedules created with the director. The fee is $185 ($148 for THELMA Members). A t-shirt is included and will be available in July for pick up from THELMA’s Welcome Desk.

The video performance will be shown August 7 online! It will be available to view on THELMA’s YouTube, Facebook and website.
