Street Designation Honoring Allen J. Buechel

Citizens, Government Officials, Law Enforcement Leaders, Community Leaders and Clergypersons will gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday, January 16.  The celebration will be hosted in-person at the Fond du Lac City/County Government Center, 160 S Macy Street, inside the Legislative Chambers at 1:00 PM.

The celebration commemorates the birthday of the slain civil rights leader, his common goals and dreams where differences are transformed. We welcome and encourage people of all backgrounds, religions, and political affiliations to attend.

After the 1:00 PM celebration, the celebration will move outside for the unveiling of the Honorary Street designation for “Allen J. Buechel Street.”  The unveiling will occur at the intersection of 2nd Street and Macy Street where the two Honorary Streets of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Allen J. Buechel intersect. It is here, where all may come across the aisle to “Intersect” in conversation, initiatives, and understanding.

Of special note, two additional Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. events will be taking place:

  • Sunday, January 15th at 2:00pm – A Community Worship Service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 51 West Division Street
  • Monday, January 16th at 7:30am – The Marian University Prayer Breakfast at 45 South National Avenue
