Statement on Committee Meeting

Senator Feyen responds to Governor’s request on September Special Session SB1

Today, Senator Dan Feyen (R-Fond du Lac), released the following statement after receiving a letter from Governor Evers requesting that the committee hold a public hearing and executive session on Special Session Senate Bill 1.

“As I said on September 21st when the bill was referred to this committee, “I plan on treating this bill the same as every other bill referred to this committee. I look forward to holding a public hearing and gathering input from the people of Wisconsin as we focus this legislation to have the greatest impact possible.”

“This is a 50 page document that suggests spending over a billion dollars.

“The Governor has the right to ask for a hearing, the committee has the right to take our time and due diligence to review the document and do the right thing for the citizens of this state.
“Once again, as previously stated, I intend to hold a public hearing once committee members are available and comfortable with what is included in the bill.

“We will proceed once we have a fiscal bureau memo on the financial impacts of the proposal.”
