SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital is enhancing its imaging services with a new, state-of-the-art ultrasound machine, thanks to a generous $104,500 gift from the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation.
This gift was made possible through the hospital’s Women’s Health Fund, supported in part by a $75,000 donation last fall in memory of Donna Vande Zande, a longtime Waupun resident and former hospital Auxiliary member who passed away in December 2023 at age 94.
“No matter what stage of life a woman is in – whether planning a family or seeking routine care – we want to provide the best tools to support informed health decisions,” according to Mason Gravelle, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation philanthropy development manager, Wisconsin Region. “Donna’s legacy and this generous gift allow us to expand our women’s health services right here in Waupun.”
The new ultrasound technology will help the hospital provide more accurate and efficient imaging, especially for women’s health needs. Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive way to look inside the body and is commonly used during pregnancy, as well as for diagnosing a variety of conditions.
The new system offers clearer images and faster results, helping physicians and other health care professionals make confident diagnoses while improving patient comfort. It also includes features that allow specialists to consult remotely, ensuring patients have access to expert care without leaving the community.
“SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital is committed to bringing advanced, compassionate care close to home,” says DeAnn Thurmer, SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital president. “By delivering clearer images and faster results, our providers have the best information possible as they make decisions about patient care, while at the same time enhancing patient comfort.”
