SSM Health supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of FDL County capital campaign

SSM Health has donated $50,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County’s “Building Connection, Inspiring Potential” capital campaign.

The demand for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County (BBBS) services has grown significantly over the past decade. To meet this growing need and better serve families in Fond du Lac County and northern Dodge County, services were recently relocated to 987 S. Main Street in Fond du Lac.

The capital campaign’s $1.95 million goal is to offset the cost of the new building, make necessary updates, and ensure resources are available to expand essential mentoring programs to even more local youth.

“Our vision has always been about helping children realize their full potential,” according to Ryan Kamphuis, campaign chair, BBBS board member, and Bristol Morgan Bank president & CEO. “This space allows us to dream bigger, and we’re excited to see the new opportunities it will open up for the youth of Fond du Lac County.”

“BBBS was in desperate need of a new facility for continued growth,” says Tammy Young, Big Sister and BBBS executive director. “There is so much potential for the future of BBBS. Our new facility allows us to expand our services and serve more children, making more matches and engaging children on our waitlist.”

The donation was presented to Young by SSM Health leaders, including Shane Smith, Tami Schattschneider, Dr. Brent Meier, and Laura Nakielski.

“SSM Health’s generous support is more than a gift,” according to Brent Meier, MD, SSM Health Northern Market clinical vice president & market physician leader. “It’s an investment in the future of our community. By helping Big Brothers Big Sisters create a space where mentoring relationships can thrive, they are ensuring that more children have the guidance, encouragement, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.”

In 2024, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac’s community benefit ministry totaled more than $568,000 across the communities it serves. This investment helps ensure access to health care for patients who are uninsured or underinsured, train the next generation of health professionals to care for those in need, and fund programs to address the most pressing health needs of our communities.
