The SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic welcomes Kristina Nielsen, APNP, a nurse practitioner, to its Health Plaza A location at 421 Camelot Drive, Fond du Lac. She is now accepting new patients.

Nielsen provides comprehensive, advanced orthopedic care to patients of all ages. She will provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients undergoing orthopedic surgery. Nielsen has a particular interest in total joint replacements, acute joint pain, and fractures, as well as helping to see patients through their recovery of these conditions.

A graduate of Marian University with a Master of Science-Nurse Practitioner degree, Nielsen is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

For the past seven years, Nielsen worked as a registered nurse on the surgical and pediatric floor at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital with orthopedic patients for the past six years. “Caring for these patients before and after surgery, both planned and unplanned, has been rewarding especially when patients make progress toward their recovery.”

Nielsen is professionally motivated by her patients’ successes and the difference she is able to make in their lives.

“My approach is to be sure to include the patient and their family/support system in each step throughout their treatment process,” according to Nielsen. “It’s important to make sure they understand the options that are available to them.”

Outside of her practice, Nielsen enjoys spending time with her husband working on their land, and caring for the fruit trees and vines they have planted. Together, they also enjoy trying to grow new succulents and house plants. “Baking in another hobby that I have had and has evolved over time from bread to desserts and everything in between.”
