SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic is pleased to welcome Abby McDowell, PA-C, as a new cardiology nurse practitioner, located at 420 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac.

As a certified physician assistant, she provides care to patients with various heart concerns, such as coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation and hypertension. 

“I really developed my love and appreciation for cardiac care during my CT surgery rotation,” McDowell shares. “The cardiac system, in my opinion, is one of the most important in the body – it’s involved in every other aspect of health.”

 Partnering with patients is an essential aspect of McDowell’s care model.

“I focus on building a relationship with my patients which provides the opportunity to explain and discuss their experiences and developing care that they have a say in and are able to understand,” according to McDowell.

McDowell earned her Master of Science, physician assistant studies from Stephens College. She is a member of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

“I am motivated by the knowledge that I can always learn more – from patients, co-workers, and medical field advancers,” McDowell says.

Outside of patient care, McDowell loves to bake, cook, and read. “My husband and I have a dog that we rescued seven years ago,” according to McDowell. “We enjoy walking and exploring new places with her, working out together, and finding fun places to eat!”
