SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic – Ripon Welcomes New General Surgeon

The SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic welcomes Horace Lo, MD, a board-certified general surgeon, to SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital, 845 Parkside Street. He is now accepting new patients.

Dr. Lo offers a full range of surgical services, including advanced laparoscopic procedures, varicose veins, and colonoscopies. He specializes in robotic surgery, hiatal hernias, and reflux surgeries.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School, Dr. Lo completed his general surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals.

After his surgical training, Dr. Lo spent four years in the Air Force where he was deployed several times overseas and decorated for his care of injured servicemen, servicewomen, and civilians in support of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow with the American College of Surgeons.

With Dr. Lo’s return to the Ripon service area after previously serving patients in Berlin, many surgical concerns can be handled locally without the need for a transfer or travel time to a more distant facility. SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac accepts most insurance plans, including Network Health Plan.

“I enjoy my career as a general surgeon,” says Dr. Lo. “Patients all have their unique stories and challenges and being able to offer my training to assist in their healing during what is often one of the most stressful times in their lives is incredibly rewarding. I also enjoy the technical aspects and consider myself a progressive surgeon, actively engaging and learning new technologies and techniques to see what may benefit our local community.”

Dr. Lo finds great personal satisfaction in offering surgeries that allow him to correct a health concern anatomically.

“When I am interacting with my patients, I explain the disease process and the surgical and non-surgical options in a way that the patient and their family will hopefully understand the disease almost as well as I do,” Dr. Lo explains. “Then we discuss the decision tree, the risks and benefits, and come to a choice that makes sense for the patient, their family, and their lifestyle.”

Outside of patient care, Dr. Lo enjoys spending time with family, as well as boating in the summer, skiing in the winter, and traveling.

He looks forward to serving Ripon and surrounding communities. “To see my patients improving after a successful surgery, in less pain, or on the road to recovery is satisfaction in itself.”
