Nora Kermgard, an SSM Health at Home – Home Health volunteer, has been named the newest recipient of the BEE (Be Exceptional Everyday) Award.
Kermgard was nominated by a fellow volunteer who wrote: “Nora is a welcoming presence at the Hospice Home of Hope. When I am visiting a resident, she is always respectful and willing to come back later to replenish linens in the room. One resident, who was nonverbal and often in the common area facing outside so she could enjoy the flowers and the birds, Nora took for a ride around the building on a nice day. She is conscientious about making sure that there are always enough linens supplied when and wherever they are needed. She is as attentive to the volunteers and staff as she is to the residents.
“After the first time I entered a room where the resident had just died, she offered me a hug. Recently, a lovely get-well note arrived from Nora while I was off several weeks recuperating. While there is not an event to share, I believe Nora deserves a BEE Award for her consistent care, compassion, respect, and commitment to excellence.”
The BEE Award is specifically designed to recognize non-nursing staff members who demonstrate great teamwork and communication skills, collaboration, professionalism, exemplary service, and a commitment to excellence.
