Marian University women’s ice hockey  (7-9-0, 4-6-0 NCHA) led after the first period but was defeated by Bethel 4-2.

  • The Royals were able to open the scoring with a power-play goal at the 8:23 mark of the opening period.
  • The lead lasted only 56 seconds before Marian evened the score.
  • Junior Olivia Church-Sowinski was the goal scorer with assists from fellow junior Jessica Tadevich and freshman Yazmine Gonzalez.
  • A funky hop off the stick of Tadevich then gave Marian the lead with 3:40 left in the period.
  • Freshman Abigail Kasal assisted the score as Marian took that 2-1 lead into the second period.
  • The Royals were able to even the score with the lone goal of the second period, a short-handed score, at the 6:57 mark.
  • Bethel then netted its second power-play goal of the day 3:27 into the third period to retake the lead.
  • The Royals were able to put the game away scoring with just 6.2 seconds remaining.
