Seniors Chelsea King of Marian University women’s basketball and Jaysen Spanbauer of Marian men’s bowling have been named the Sabres of the Month for December.

King (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) paced the Sabres during December in several categories and scored at least 12 points in all but one game to finish 2025. King averaged 14.2 points per game with 4.8 rebounds per game. She scored 20 points in a pair of road games at Concordia Wisconsin and North Central (Minn.). King nearly had a double-double against the Rams adding eight rebounds. On the defensive end, King led the team with her 17 steals posting multiple swipes in every game. Along with her 12 points at Maranatha Baptist, she was able to grab a career-high six steals. This is her third time being named Sabre of the Month for her efforts on the court.
Jaysen Spanbauer • Senior • Men’s Bowling
Spanbauer (Fond du Lac, Wis.) averaged 200.9 pins as an individual over three events in the month of December. He opened the month finishing in a tie for 34th out of 286 bowlers at the Warhawk Open with his average of 202.0. As a team, Marian was able to finish the event 10th out of 25 squads. He then opened a trip to Pennsylvania finishing 12th at the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic with a 210.6 average. The effort led Marian to a third-place finish at the event. This also capped off a run of five straight events where he averaged more than 200 pins in traditional play. Spanbauer leads the team with a 206.6 average over eight events, or 39 total games.
