Society Insurance Employees Attend Emerging Leaders Conference

Conference recognizes rising stars in the insurance field

Doug Nation and Cheryl Starling of Society Insurance have been recognized by the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) as emerging leaders in the insurance industry. Nation and Starling joined 120 property and casualty insurance professionals at the 2022 Emerging Leaders Conference on August 7-9 in Denver, CO.

The conference, co-hosted by the Insurance Careers Movement (ICM) and A.M. Best, provides insights on executive leadership, facilitates networking and promotes professional and personal development.

“This was an excellent opportunity to network with many fantastic, accomplished and up-and-coming peers in the property and casualty insurance industry, as well as learn more about hot-button issues,” said Doug Nation, Society’s vice president – actuary. “I had a wonderful time and look forward to having other Society colleagues enjoy this opportunity.”

“I really enjoyed connecting with my peers and hearing what they had to say about leadership,” noted Cheryl Starling, director of enterprise agility at Society. “With change thrown at us every day, one thing that stood out for me is this: Negative thoughts are natural. We need to acknowledge those thoughts, accept what is going on and figure out how to navigate the changes.”

Society Insurance president Heather Boyer was invited to serve on a conference panel discussing the state of the industry and leadership. “The excitement and the positive energy level at the Emerging Leaders Conference were fun to experience,” said Boyer. “It was such a privilege to meet so many talented leaders and to have the opportunity to represent Society Insurance.”
