Slow start too much to overcome for Sabre women’s basketball

Marian University women’s basketball (0-2, 0-0 NACC) couldn’t overcome a slow start falling at Dubuque 66-51.

  • Dubuque scored the first 12 points of the game and finished the first quarter with four unanswered points to lead 22-8.
  • The Spartans were able to build their lead to as large as 19 points in the second quarter but were only outscored 19-18 in the stanza.
  • Marian finished with a 17-13 advantage in the third quarter to bring its deficit down to 11 at 54-43.
  • Neither side found a groove offensively in the final quarter with UD finishing with a 12-8 edge in the quarter and 66-51 final score.
