Slow start costs Marian men’s lacrosse at Alma

Marian University men’s lacrosse (0-2, 0-0 NACC) was defeated by Alma 15-4 in its first road game of the year.

  • The Sabres were able to net the first goal of the game when senior Serge Simard scored 1:06 in.
  • Alma then scored nine unanswered goals between the first two stanzas and led 9-1 at the break.
  • After Alma scored the first three goals of the third quarter freshman Andrew Nesbitt scored the first goal of his career.
  • Simard then netted a pair of goals in the fourth quarter for the Sabres.

  • Marian was outshot 46-28 in the defeat and Alma also had a 31-25 edge for ground balls.
  • The Sabres had a slim 11-10 advantage in face-off chances.
  • Neither team had a man-up goal with the Sabres having eight chances and Alma just one.
