Senator Feyen Statement on Biennial Budget Passage

State Senator Dan Feyen (R-Fond du Lac) released the following statement after Wisconsin State Senate passed the 2025-2027 State Biennial Budget:

“With a divided state government as we currently have, it’s obvious that no one will get everything they want in the state budget.

“On the campaign trail, I consistently held that one of my top requirements in a budget I could support would be a meaningful tax cut for my hardworking constituents, which this budget delivers, through over $1.4 billion in tax relief.

“I always have, and always will, advocate for a smaller, smarter state government. I’m glad to see that this budget cuts over 300 vacant positions from state government. These are ones that have been vacant for over 18 months, which means they are clearly not needed to run the state, and that those tax dollars are better spent back in the pockets of Wisconsin taxpayers.

“This budget takes care of the highest need students in K-12 education, with very specific investments in special education, as well as makes necessary reforms in childcare to open up additional slots and provide relief to working parents.

“While this budget does not include everything that I personally wanted to see—and contains elements I would have preferred to leave out—I voted “yes” because it makes meaningful investments and reforms across key areas and delivers a sizeable tax cut for the hardworking people of Wisconsin.

“If you are anything like me and want to see a more conservative budget, let this be a wake-up call that all of us must do everything we can—starting right now—to expand our Republican majority in the Legislature and elect a Republican Governor next fall.”
