Sabre Women’s Volleyball Suffers Sweep Against Lakeland

 Marian University women’s volleyball (8-13, 2-5 NACC) stumbled against Lakeland falling in straight sets 25-20, 25-21, and 25-18.

  • Marian opened with a slim 11-10 lead before the Muskies pulled away in the first set with an 8-1 run.
  • The Muskies opened the second set wit a 12-5 lead and brought its lead out to 20-13.
  • The Sabres showed some life using a 6-1 spurt to only trail 21-19.
  • A timeout from Lakeland stopped the momentum and saw the Muskies end the set on a 4-2 run.
  • After a 6-5 Marian lead opened the third set, Lakeland went on a 9-1 run to lead 14-7.
  • The Sabres managed to trim its deficit down to three at 19-16, but a strong finish saw the Muskies end the match on a 6-2 run.

  • Kills were nearly even with Lakeland holding a slim 39-37 advantage, while the Sabres had more digs at a 49-46 clip.
  • The Sabre offense only hit .067 and had 29 hitting errors to only nine for Lakeland.
  • Marian had six aces from the service line.
  • Lakeland improves to 43-16 all-time against Marian with wins in the last nine matches.
