Marian University women’s volleyball (4-2, 0-0 NACC) was swept by UW-Superior before defeating Hamline in four sets to open the Stinger Classic, hosted by UW-Superior.

UW-SUPERIOR (25-23, 25-15, 25-21)
- UW-Superior entered undefeated and played well to open their own tournament.
- Marian opened the match with a 22-19 lead in the first set but the Yellow Jackets scored five unanswered points and eventually took the set by two points.
- The second set was all UWS and the third set was all about streaks that ultimately ended with UW-Superior scoring three of the final four points.
HAMLINE (25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 26-24)
- Marian was able to bounce back nicely against Hamline defeating the Pipers in four sets.
- Hamline led late in the opening set 19-18 but Marian would go on a 6-1 streak to take a 24-20 advantage and eventually take the set.
- The Sabres had a 20-18 lead in the second set but Hamline was able to even the sets after scoring six straight points.
- The late comeback didn’t affect the Sabres as Marian opened the third scoring nine of the first 10 points.
- The Pipers managed to trim the deficit down to two but Marian went on a run of 5-1 to pull away and scored the final four points of the set.
- Another quick start in the fourth saw Marian take an early 7-3 lead.
- Hamline managed to rally and led as late as 22-21 but Marian scored three straight for a match-point chance.
- The Pipers turned away the first match-point opportunity but senior Riley Shores finished off the match with a kill shortly after a Hamline service error.

- Marian had fewer kills in both matches with a 39-26 margin against UW-Superior and 41-40 versus Hamline.
- The back row also had fewer digs in both matches; 74-63 against the Yellow Jackets, and 85-70 against Hamline.
- The Sabres had 10 service aces against Hamline, their third match this season with double-digit aces.
- Marian improved to 3-1 all-time against Hamline and remained winless against UWS in five matches.
