Sabre women's volleyball finishes trip to Stinger Classic

Marian University women’s volleyball (4-8, 0-0 NACC) finished its trip to the Stinger Classic falling to UW-La Crosse and Augsburg.

VS. UW-LA CROSSE (L, 3-0, 25-5, 25-22, 25-16)

UW-La Crosse scored the first 12 points of the first set and cruised to take the opener.
The Eagles jumped out to a similarly comfortable lead to start the second at 12-2.
Marian responded shortly after with a 10-1 run to only trail 17-15.
The Sabres kept pace the rest of the way but couldn’t get any closer than the two-point deficit.
The third set started close with Marian only trailing 13-9, but UWL was able to put the match away with a 7-1 spurt.

VS. AUGSBURG (L, 3-1, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20)

Augsburg held an early 15-6 lead only for Marian to rally and lead 18-16 after a 12-1 spurt.
The Auggies managed to tie the set at 19-19 before the Sabres used a 5-1 run to win the set.
Marian rallied from another slow start in the second to only trail 15-12.
The Auggies then pulled away with a late 8-3 run.
The third set was similar as Augsburg led 9-7 early before scoring six straight to pull away from Marian.
After Augsburg led 10-4 to begin the fourth set, Marian rallied going on a 12-5 run to lead 16-15.
The Auggies immediately responded, however, closing out the match with a 10-4 spurt.

VS. UW-LA CROSSE

UWL had a 40-2 edge in kills and 48-36 advantage in digs.
The Eagles finished the match with only seven attacking errors and a .324 hitting percentage.
Marian is 1-7 all-time against UW-La Crosse having dropped the last three meetings.

VS. AUGSBURG

Marian finished with a slim 45-43 edge in kills for the match and held a 61-50 advantage in digs.
Augsburg finished the match with 10 aces to only five for the Sabres.
Marian is 1-2 all-time against Augsburg with this being the first meeting since both prior meetings in 2001.

	Kylie Krueger finished the day with 18 kills and 22 digs posting her second double-double of the Stinger Classic against Augsburg.
	Khloe Walling had 10 kills against Augsburg, her sixth performance with double-digit kills this season.
	Sofia Rodriguez had 35 digs between the two matches.
