Sabre Women’s Volleyball Drops Tightly-contested Match to SNC

Marian University women’s volleyball (8-11, 2-3 NACC) dropped a tight match to St. Norbert 25-23, 25-14, 27-29, 25-22.

  • The Sabres spotted St. Norbert a 10-2 lead to open the match but chipped away eventually tying the set at 18-18.
  • Marian then scored three of the next four points to take the lead at 21-19.
  • The Sabres held onto their lead out to 23-22 but SNC managed to score three straight to take the opening set.
  • The Green Knights opened the second set with a 12-10 lead but broke the set open closing with a 13-4 spurt.
  • The third set opened with a 16-16 stalemate before Marian scored four straight to lead 20-16.
  • The Sabres brought its advantage out to 22-18 before SNC went on a 6-1 spurt to lead 24-23.
  • Marian denied the match-point opportunity and after three failed set-point chances, the Sabres were able to take the third.
  • After a 19-19 draw to open the fourth, St. Norbert took the lead for good scoring three straight points.
  • Marian was able to trim its deficit to one twice, but back-to-back points from SNC with a 23-22 lead secured the win.

  • The Sabres had 44 kills to St. Norbert who had 58, while SNC also had a 74-63 edge in digs.
  • St. Norbert finished wtih 13 service aces, while the Sabres had 10 blocks as a team.
  • Marian outhit the Green Knights finishing with a .176 hitting percentage.
  • The Sabres are now just 4-22 all-time against St. Norbert and have dropped the last 15 meetings.

Sophomore Ryanne Jasica had her sixth double-double of the season recording 12 kills to go with 15 digs.
Junior Alana McDermott posted a match-high 21 digs.
Junior Harley Bartels had nine kills to go with two solo blocks and four assisted blocks.
