Sabre Women’s Volleyball Drops Four Setter to CUW

Marian University women’s volleyball (7-10, 1-2 NACC) was defeated by Concordia Wisconsin 25-9, 24-26, 25-22, and 25-19.

  • Concordia took a commanding lead in the opening set and finished with eight unanswered points.
  • The Falcons led for most of the second set and was ahead as much as 20-15.
  • Marian chipped away at the deficit but still trailed 24-22.
  • The Sabres then not only fought off two set-point chances, but won the set with four straight points.
  • Concordia Wisconsin once again had a sizable lead at 20-14 in the third but Marian would score eight consecutive points to lead 22-20.
  • The Falcons had an answer scoring five straight points to take the set and lead 2-1.
  • The fourth set followed a similar script with CUW jumping ahead 14-6.
  • Marian was able to battle back and only trailed by two at 16-14 but the Falcons responded with five straight points and eventually cruised to win the set.

  • The Falcons finished with a 44-38 edge for kills and 58-50 advantage for digs.
  • CUW hit .207 for the match, while Marian was held to a hitting percentage of .043 and had 32 attacking errors.
  • The Sabres had seven blocks at the net, their second-highest total for a single match this season.
  • Concordia Wisconsin now has a 32-30 advantage in the all-time series and has won the last 13 meetings.

Sophomore Ryanne Jasica led the squad with 14 kills and added eight digs.
Junior Alana McDermott posted a match-high 15 digs.
Junior Natalie Yanke had two solo blocks and three assisted blocks.
